CBI: Challenge-Based Innovation at CERN

A3 Challenge Based Innovation (CBI) is a programme in partnership with CERN, in which students are given a chance to develop projects that propose new physical, digital or experiential applications that aim to increase the impact of CERN science.

Interdisciplinary teams of product design students and engineering students from diverse fields will work together and learn a range of design innovation methods that will aid them in the development of such projects. This programme is aimed at Masters or final year Bachelor's students. Although teams are not international, CBI happens in several universities and students will share their project development and build on top of each other's ideas.

Challenge brief: Connect Sustainable Development Goals to CERN technology using a range of design innovation methods to propose new physical, digital or experiential applications that aim to increase the impact of CERN science.

CBI Jam happened from 20/11/2017 to 01/12/2017, and it was an event that gathered A3 CBI students, from Melbourne Design Factory and Porto Design Factory, to immerse in CERN culture.
During this time, they were ideating on solutions for production and consumption problems, using CERN technology!

Students had the chance to meet scientists from different backgrounds and visit CERN facilities, which was very helpful in idea development.

Besides that, CBI X students, from Italy, joined A3 CBI students for some of the activities, allowing them to work together on their projects.
