Beta Sound System is the first Portuguese program for accelerating new business ideas for the music industry. It was designed to support the work of the most brilliant artists, researchers and entrepreneurs and the most promising startups in the music industry.
This accelerator, designed and managed by Porto Design Factory and Casa da Música, aims to support the emergence of a new generation of music business, products and technologies, from music creation to new forms of music consumption. Beta Sound System will provide 360 degree support to 5 teams of entrepreneurs with innovative "music-driven" business ideas over an initial 12-week period. They will do it by preparing a “tailor made” educational program and connecting them with the entrepreneurship ecosystem with the main stakeholders in the music industry, and with mentors, experts and prototyping resources needed to transform promising ideas into innovative products. At the end of this period, the teams will present their results to the music and entrepreneurial community at a major entrepreneurship and music event: the "Beta Sound Fest".From there, teams will benefit from an additional 12 weeks, where the “Beta Sound System” will boost business scaleup by connecting teams with the world's leading development programs, key customers, distributors and producers, and with the main investors.
Applications for the Beta Sound System will run from January 3 to February 28, 2017. The 5 selected ideas / teams will start the acceleration program on April 1 and end on June 30.
The second acceleration wave will take place from 1 October to 31 December, with applications from 1 June to 30 August.
